This August four young high performance cross country ski athletes from the Edmonton region will be heading to Norway to take part in an international training camp hosted by the Norwegian Ski Federation. The camp has been run for several years but this will be the first year a group of Canadian athletes will be attending.

The Canadian Birkebeiner Society (CBS), founded in 1985, is a not-for-profit organization focused on the planning and provision of the annual Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival that takes place in the greater Edmonton area. The Birkie is the largest strictly classical cross-country ski event in Canada. In the spirit of the Norwegian Birkebeiner legend, the festival consists of five events ranging in distance from 2.5 km to 55 km. In the role of Office Administrator, the successful applicant will be responsible for accounting, database, website and clerical functions for the annual Ski Festival...

It turns out Dasha Gaiazova took her final international cross country ski race where her career all began - in her native Russia at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Cross Country Alberta is hosting workshops and the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, May 31.

It will be a dynamic day, and is not to be missed! We will have three Olympic athletes joining us for talks, as well as a Canadian Sport 4 Life champion leading our workshops, and a high performance coach leading a coaching discussion.
